John Passidomo, husband of Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, was pronounced dead on Wednesday, April 3, following a tragic accident while on vacation in Utah.
According to a memorandum issued by President Pro Tempore Baxley with the FL Senate, the incident occurred on Monday afternoon while John Passidomo was hiking with his wife, Kathleen. He fell, suffering severe head trauma and other serious injuries.
Emergency responders transported him from the trail to a local hospital and later to a regional trauma center, where medical teams evaluated his condition over the next 24 hours.
Unfortunately, it was determined that he would not survive his injuries.
The First Gentleman 'passed away peacefully' at 3:21 p.m. EDT, surrounded by his wife and three daughters.
John Passidomo and Kathleen Passidomo were law school sweethearts and had planned to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary in September.
The trip to Utah was part of their shared adventures over five decades together. Described as fit and active with excellent health at the age of 72, John Passidomo's passing has deeply saddened his family and loved ones.
John Passidomo was an organ donor, and matches for several of his organs were identified.
Services have been scheduled for April 26 and April 27. A celebration of life will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 26 at Baker Park in Naples, according to a memorandum posted Tuesday on the Senate website. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on April 27 at Saint Ann Catholic Church in Naples.
